Liability Waiver
This Liability Waiver & Release Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between Move for America, doing business as Civic Bridgers (“Civic Bridgers”), and the undersigned participant (“Participant”). This Agreement is delivered electronically. The Participant consents to using an electronic signature to sign this Agreement and be legally bound to the terms of this Agreement. By electronically signing the Agreement, the Participant also consents to entering into this Agreement in electronic form. The Participant acknowledges that the Participant’s electronic signature will have the same legal force and effect as a handwritten signature.
Please read carefully. By signing, you are giving up certain legal rights.
1. Voluntary Participation
Participant voluntarily chooses to attend and participate in the above-referenced event (“Event”), including any activities, workshops, discussions, services, and transportation associated with the Event.
2. Assumption of Risk
Participant understands and acknowledges that participation in the Event may involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Physical activity and movement
Crowded environments
Use of equipment or materials
Travel to, from, or between Event venues
Weather-related conditions
Interaction with other participants, staff, and volunteers
Participant accepts full responsibility for any injury, illness, property damage, or other harm that may result from attendance or participation in the Event.
3. Transportation Waiver (To, From, and During the Event)
Participant understands that transportation may be:
Provided or arranged by Civic Bridgers (including buses, vans, ride services, or carpooling),
Coordinated by a school, partner organization, or third-party vendor, or
Arranged independently by Participant or their parent/guardian.
Participant assumes all risks associated with such transportation, including entering/exiting vehicles, roadway hazards, inclement weather, third-party driver actions, and unforeseen incidents.
Participant agrees that Civic Bridgers is not responsible or liable for:
Injuries or losses occurring during transportation to, from, or between Event locations
The actions, negligence, or omissions of drivers or third-party transportation providers
Mechanical issues, delays, or incidents involving any vehicle
4. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Participant hereby releases, waives, and discharges Civic Bridgers and its officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, agents, partners, affiliates, sponsors, and event venues from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, or expenses arising out of or related to:
Participation in the Event
Transportation to, from, or during the Event
Personal injury, illness, disability, or death
Damage, loss, or theft of personal property
This release applies even if the injury or damage is caused by the negligence (but not the gross negligence or willful misconduct) of Civic Bridgers.
5. Medical Treatment Authorization
Participant authorizes Civic Bridgers and its representatives to provide or obtain emergency medical care if deemed necessary and agrees to be solely responsible for any resulting medical costs.
Participant affirms they have no medical or physical condition that would endanger themselves or others during the Event.
6. Indemnification
Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Civic Bridgers from any claims or costs (including attorney’s fees) arising out of Participant’s actions, conduct, or failure to follow instructions during the Event or transit.
7. Personal Property
Participant understands that Civic Bridgers is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings brought to the Event or during transportation.
8. Minors
If the Participant is under 18, this Agreement must be signed by a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to the terms both on their own behalf and on behalf of the minor.
9. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
10. Acknowledgment
By signing below, Participant certifies that they:
Have read this Agreement in full
Understand its terms
Understand that they are waiving substantial legal rights
Sign this Agreement voluntarily and without coercion
